The Department of Aquaculture, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, successfully organized a one-day workshop on “The Art of Aquarium Fabrication” on 28th July 2025 in Room No. 239. The workshop focused on the construction of glass aquariums and the setting up of filtration units, offering a hands-on learning experience for participants.
Led by two experts from the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) — Mr. K.M. Venugopal, Retired Senior Technical Officer, and Mr. A.K. Shaji, Senior Assistant Technician — the session blended theory and practical training. Topics such as aquarium design, types of glass, safety protocols, and the importance of filtration in aquatic systems were covered. Participants also received step-by-step demonstrations on glass cutting and sealing techniques.
Around 60 students, faculty, and non-teaching staff took part in the event, engaging enthusiastically in the hands-on fabrication process. The workshop was open to students across departments, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Department extends its heartfelt thanks to the resource persons and participants for making the workshop a valuable and enriching experience.
